By Steve Martin
You are lucky tonight. You were here at the moment and you heard it from the horse’s mouth. I will be changing the century. The other bars know it, you may as well too.
An unguarded scientist, an unnoticed artist and a stranger with blue suede shoes walk into a bar… Before they became known as the names that changed the course of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein met in a small bar in France, or so Steve Martin would have it. On this ordinary evening in 1904, the Lapin Agile expects three extraordinary men who will come to be household names. Steve Martin’s ridiculous comedy chews over science and art, philosophy and incontinence, women and the achievements of the 20th Century in a sharp, witty imaginary meeting of Picasso and Einstein.
